The vibrant colors, mystical style, and eclectic artistry make Gaudi’s work truly exceptional. Park Güell is sprawled out like its own private island in the city. Its elevation and height offer dazzling views of the Mediterranean Sea.

This park combines the beauty of Gaudi’s work and the tranquility of a green park all rolled into one magnificent place.

When it was constructed between 1900-1914 by the most famous contemporary architect Antoni Guadí, the park was on the northern end of Barcelona.

Guadi Park

As you enter the park, you will pass the colorful pavilion with its naturally round forms and the typically tiled and shaped roof. Following the stairs, you will reach the multicolored mosaic dragon fountain, which is one of the main icons of Park Güell.

Casa Batiló Guided Tour

Casa Batiló is not just a building, but also an artistic legend; a calm sea is reflected by an outstanding façade. Opening the curtain of this façade reveals a world of architectural details and other attractive elements.

The apartment building enchants visitors with its remarkable design and the vast repertoire of visual solutions employed. In every corner with the support of your guide, you will discover something surprising. Each detail is fascinating and imaginative.

The tour includes a visit to the legendary Noble Floor (it used to be the home of the Batlló family), the Attic (it was used by the residents as a store and laundry room), and the Rooftops and Chimneys.

The Chimneys present the well-known spine of the multi-colored dragon killed by St Georges. Revel in the magnificent lobby, main staircase, and light well (it used to be the main staircase for the rest of the neighbors). The experience replicates how you would feel walking through a fairytale.

The Magical World of Casa Batlló will stir your imagination with the metaphors and representation of nature, in particular the sea, which will inspire you and stimulate your senses and emotions.

An explosion of colours and forms as well as the splendid examples of the decorative arts of the epoch show how dedicated Gaudí was to his craft.

An immersion in modernity, enigmatic forms, the interpretation of a dream, a Mediterranean marvel, a place of innovation and new concepts, this structure is a place for reflecting on the capabilities of art and design.

Casa Batlló is all this and more. It is no surprise that UNESCO declared Casa Batlló a World Heritage site in 2005.

Once your stomach is full, it is time to make our way to the famous Park Güell, a city garden designed by Anton Gaudi. Our guide will lead the group down through the park explaining the tantalizing garden concept and introducing you to some of Gaudí’s most bizarre creations.

Next, the bus will take us through the traditional Catalan neighborhood of Gracia, a lovely part of the city with a bohemian vibe.

We will stop at one of the most famous Gaudi buildings of all: La Pedrera. We will have an hour here to explore the monument. Thanks to our Skip the Line policy there will be no waiting in the queues!

After the visit, our tour will end here at around 4 pm. There is the Diagonal metro stop (L4 & L5) just in front of the building.

Still, have energy? Many travelers usually prefer to stroll down the impressive boulevard of Passeig de Gracia towards Placa Cataluña.

A comfortable Bus will take you to the mountain of Montserrat, a jagged mountain climbing up 4,051 feet (1,236 meters).

The rocks of Montserrat were formed by natural cement of sand during the centuries. The wind and rain shaped the mountain with strange and varied forms.

Creative imaginations see human or animal shapes in some of these peaks, giving those names and inventing legends to explain their fantastic origins.

Montserrat Awesome

The train has panoramic windows, making the actual journey a delight for the senses. The train is air-conditioned as well as wheelchair-friendly.

You will visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which holds the famous 12th-century Romanesque carving of Verge Moreneta (the Black Madonna). This famous statue of the Black Madonna is visible from a distance.

The Benedict Sanctuary of Montserrat was founded in 1025 and provides a mystical backdrop for the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, who is enshrined in the monastery’s Royal Basilica.

The little monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who spread the word of the miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin. Word of mouth led to more and more pilgrims visiting Montserrat.

Today, Montserrat has been modernized to continue attending to the needs of pilgrims, one thousand years after it was originally founded.

You will be given free time to visit the audiovisual exhibition about the history and creation of Montserrat and taste typical liquors of Montserrat, handmade by the monks of the monastery (both activities are included).

General Tips, Recommendations, and Advice

While Barcelona has a warm, balmy climate it is still adjacent to the sea, which means weather can sometimes be unpredictable. When it does rain, it rains in full tropical style. Although it is unlikely, we recommend having a layer or two just in case. If it is the summer, you have much less to worry about.

If you are doing a tour that includes Montserrat Mountain, definitely bring layers regardless of the season. The weather on the mountain tends to change swiftly.

Wear sunscreen! The sun in Barcelona is strong. Even if you are enjoying a lovely sea breeze, the sun can still burn your skin. It is best to be cautious and not battle a painful sunburn!

Beautiful Barcelona

Wear comfortable shoes. Barcelona is an old city full of charming cobblestone streets and lovely historic districts. Comfortable shoes are essential for the walking tours offered on this list. On the Montserrat tour, you will be walking on a mountain. Sneakers are a great choice.

Make a “must-see” list for your trip. This list will help you navigate our article, as many tours are offered and it can be hard to narrow down which ones you are most interested in.

In addition to your “must-see” list, try to have an open mind for tours and landmarks that weren’t on your radar. Sometimes the most memorable experiences happen out of spontaneity and an open mind.

Did you know?

One fun fact about Barcelona City Tours is that they often include visits to the “Superblocks.” These are innovative urban planning projects aimed at creating pedestrian-friendly zones within the city. In these areas, several city blocks are interconnected, and traffic is restricted to the perimeter, making the interior streets car-free or significantly reduced in traffic.

Superblocks are designed to prioritize the well-being of residents and visitors by providing green spaces, playgrounds, outdoor seating, and cultural activities in the heart of the city. They promote a sense of community, reduce pollution, and contribute to a more sustainable and enjoyable urban environment.

Exploring these Superblocks on a city tour allows you to witness Barcelona’s commitment to innovative urban planning and sustainability while enjoying a unique urban experience within the bustling city. It’s a testament to Barcelona’s progressive approach to urban design and livability.
