Description de la visite

Located in the heart of Montjuïc and well-connected to the centre of Barcelona, Poble Espanyol is a unique space that recreates the soul of Spain. The walled village, high on the Olympic mountain of Montjuïc, is an oasis of peace, and at the same time a place of fantasy, with buildings of great architectural beauty and a large array of shops, restaurants and art&craft workshops.

Strolling through the streets and squares of the best traditional architecture, from within you will experience the great diversity of our culture. From the emotion of popular festivals to live handcrafting and contemporary art. An exciting experience of culture and entertainment for all ages.

THE TYPICAL SPANISH ARCHITECTURE
Poble Espanyol shows the richness of Spain’s traditional architecture. Built in 1929 for the International Exhibition in Barcelona it is a town in itself with recreations of 117 buildings where you can find the typical Andalusian neighbourhood, a part of The Way of St. James and a Romanesque monastery, among others.

Over 300 pieces from the masters of Spanish contemporary art including Picasso, Miró and Dalí at the Fran Daurel Museum, located in the site and included in the entry. The artistic value of the site also reaches the Sculpture Garden and the Guinovart Space.

CRAFTS AND SHOPPING ALL YEAR ROUND
More than 20 craftsmen work on the site which you can see make pieces of glass, leather, jewellery and guitars in person. Among them one of the last glass furnaces in Spain. All of this makes Poble Espanyol a unique shopping centre, open 365 days a year.

The Poble Espanyol was designed by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafach in 1929 for the World Exhibition of Barcelona to showcase the diversity of Spanish culture. Following a search through the length and breadth of Spain, 117 buildings were chosen, which are now visited by more than one million people every year.
