2.1. Skip the Line at Sagrada Familia

As one of the most visited buildings in the world, Sagrada Familia doesn´t go a day without serious lines! This masterpiece is the work of artistic genius and visionary Antoni Gaudí.

Here some main informations about the building:

Construction began in 1882 and the then 30-year old Gaudi knew this architectural work of art would not be completed in his lifetime. When it is completed, the church will consist of three facades.

The Nativity Façade focuses on the birth of Jesus. The Passion Façade is dedicated to the suffering during His crucifixion. Lastly the Glory Façade is the representation of the road to God.

After the Spanish Civil War, there has been (and still is) dispute whether this long-lasting project should be continued. Some have the opinion that the work should be left unfinished as a way to respect the work of Antoni Gaudí.

It is hard to know what he truly wanted, as he was very aware that this construction wouldn´t be finished in his lifetime.

The extensive exterior construction will continue for years to come. Outside the Glory Façade, half a block of houses will be knocked down in order to create space for a sprawling stairway. This stairway will span Career Mallorca and lead to the main entrance.

Still under construction, soon to be finished – Sagrada Familia.

Eventually the Jesus Christ Tower will crown the building. Once this achievement is made, Sagrada Familia will become the highest church in the world, cascading upwards with 170meters.

This is strategically one meter lower than Montjuic mountain, since in the pious eyes of Gaudí, his building should not exceed the work of God. In serendipitous form, the completion of this masterpiece is scheduled for 2026, the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí´s death.

In your tour, you will visit the astonishing church interior, which spans upwards 70 meters. Gaudí´s designed a Latin cross plan with 5 aisles, symbolically and richly decorated.
