What’s up in Barcelona during September?
September is a great month to visit beautiful Barcelona. The touristic high season is slowly declining and the weather is not as hot anymore as it was during the previous months – perfect conditions for a city trip.
Besides extensive sightseeing and city tours, Barcelona offers various possibilities to make your stay in September an unforgettable experience – street festivals, fashion shows, sport events, special dinners and much more!
You definitely shouldn’t miss the biggest annual street party of Barcelona “Les Festes de la Mercè” in mid September. Initiated with a 10km run the weekend before, the festival is held in honour of the Patron Saint of Barcelona and decorates the whole city in amazing colours and a vibrant atmosphere. The motto is the goodbye of the hot summer months and the welcome of the coming autumn days. Filled with music, fireworks, parades and people it is THE place to be for impressive memories.
The ninth month of the year will also be your last chance to be part of the amazing “Sopar amb estrelles” which means “Dinner with stars”. Every Tuesday till Saturday evening you can enjoy an outdoor dinner under the stars, completed by a spectacular panoramic view over Barcelona. The menu served at one of the oldest observatories, the Fabra Observatory, is inspired by the outer space and all dishes represent aspects of the solar system.

Good news also for all sport enthusiasts – September is full of sport events. The FC Barcelona has several games to demonstrate their abilities and towards the end of the month you can witness the Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta. Moreover, Barcelona welcomes the elite of the equestrian world for the international horse show jumping competition CSIO on the last weekend of September.
Enjoy!
